What’s Ashwagandha?

Ashwagandha, also known as Indian ginseng, is an ancient herb used for centuries in holistic and Ayurvedic practices. It can be used in many supplemental forms, and the powdered root is perfect for adding to any recipe. Potential medicinal benefits of ashwagandha include but are not limited to support a healthy mood and behavior, anxiety, stress and frustration, hormone production, a healthy immune system, and healthy joints. It gives you energy, and you can easily add it to our recipe for less that what you’d spend buying fast food!

Adding an ashwagandha supplement to your daily diet has tons of potential health benefits. It may not only help to ease feelings of stress and anxiety, but it may also help to provide an ideal sleep state for your mind and body, allowing you to wake up well-rested and full of energy to start the day.

For those who love food and eating but don’t want the added weight and fatigue that comes with too many carbs and too much sugar, we blended the main ingredients from two great recipes (for runner’s fuel protein and chia seed balls and keto fat bombs) and added a secret ingredient to give you that extra burst of energy (as well as several other potential health benefits) you need to face your day: ashwagandha root powder. Have fun making this easy recipe to help fuel your next workout!

• ½ cup natural, creamy peanut butter
• ⅓ cup honey
• ½ teaspoon vanilla
• 3 cups quick oats
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• 3 tablespoons chia seeds

* Add 2 tbsp. ashwagandha powder

  1. Start by melting the peanut butter and honey together. When they have melted, remove from the heat and add the vanilla. Add the remaining ingredients and mix until thoroughly combined.
  2. Next, scoop out a heaping teaspoon and roll into a tight ball. After a while, if your hands have too much granola on them and they begin to be difficult to form into balls, simply wash your hands or grease with oil. You can also press into a pan and cut into bars.

We all struggle with finding enough time outside of work to complete simple tasks like grocery shopping, going to the gym, and meal prep, but something like this is quick and easy and you likely already have most of the ingredients on hand!

Take some time for yourself and make a batch of these the beginning of each week to start your week off right. These ashwagandha energy bites are a natural, healthy way to curb hunger and give you that extra burst of energy to get you through the day. Bonus: They are easy, delicious, and no bake. Happy snacking!
