The holidays are a time for friends, food, and playful cocktails. However, holiday indulgence may also come in the form of a few added pounds and a snugger fit in your favorite pair of jeans. In an attempt to balance holiday cheer and smart food choices, we’ve gathered a list of festive cocktails you can mix up all while keeping the sugar and calories to a minimum. Try These 3 Festive Cocktails
We’ll start with a holiday take on a classic cocktail, the martini. This cranberry martini recipe keeps both the vodka and vermouth featured in the original drink, while adding a cranberry orange flavor that will help you get your holly jolly on in no time.
- 1 (1.5 fl oz) jigger vodka
- 1/2 fl oz orange liqueur
- 1/2 fl oz dry vermouth
- 2 (1.5 fl oz) jiggers natural cranberry juice
- Stevia simple syrup as needed
- 1 cup ice
Combine vodka, vermouth, orange liqueur, cranberry juice, simple syrup, and ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake well to mix and chill before serving into martini glasses. Garnish with cranberries for a pop of fruity color.
White Christmas Margaritas
Are you dreaming of a white Christmas? If not these sweet and creamy margaritas will help you get started. If you have guests on the way and need a holiday cocktail that’s sure to impress, these white christmas margaritas serve a crowd and come together quickly.
- 10 oz silver tequila
- 8 oz grand marnier
- 8 oz lime juice
- 8 oz coconut water
- 8 oz canned coconut milk
- 6 oz coconut cream
- 6 oz coconut rum
- 6 oz stevia simple syrup
- Garnish with sprigs of rosemary and fresh cranberries
Mix all ingredients together well in a pitcher, with a wooden spoon. Taste and add more stevia syrup to adjust sweetness.
Pomegranate Ginger Paloma
It’s easy to forget that when cranberries are in season, so are pomegranates! These holiday cocktails are easy to make and add a delicious and unexpected burst of flavor to any holiday gathering.
- Crushed ice
- 1/2 cup pomegranate juice
- 1/3 cup grapefruit juice
- Juice of 1/2 a lime
- 2-4 tablespoons ginger simple syrup
- 2-3 ounces tequila
- Ginger beer or sparkling water for topping
Start by filling glass with crushed ice. Then pour in the pomegranate juice, grapefruit juice, lime juice, ginger simple syrup, and tequila. Stir to combine and then top with a splash of ginger beer. Garnish with mint and serve to delighted guests.
To make the ginger simple syrup, use our simple syrup recipe below but add 2 inches of peeled, chopped, fresh ginger into your boiling water. Allow to steep for 5-10 minutes before staining and allowing your syrup to cool.
How to Make Stevia Simple Syrup
Each of these recipes call for simple syrup made with stevia, and to make your own stevia simple syrup you’ll need 2 cups of water and ½ cup of stevia. In a small saucepan, bring your water to a boil before adding in the stevia. Once cooled, pour into tall container for an easy way to sweeten cocktails, coffee and natural juice spritzers!
