The main theme of Valentine’s Day is love. For most people, it simply means hanging out with their heartthrob, going to romantic places, traveling to romantic destinations, receiving romantic presents, or going on a romantic date.
But that isn’t always the case.
Valentine’s Day is simply about showing love and appreciation to people around you, not just your lover or spouse. It is the day that you appreciate your parents, siblings, or friends that have made an indelible mark in your life, colleagues that have made your workload lighter, and people that have impacted you in one way or the other. What better way to appreciate them than with cookies (or chocolates) made from a heart shape mold!
If you are not sure of how to make these, not to worry! Here is a step-by-step guide.
Chocolate Chip Cookies Made from a Heart Shape Mold
Note that this ingredients list is designed to fit into one medium-sized pan, but you can double the quantity if you need to make more. The beautiful thing about this recipe is that it is super easy to make!
- 1 ¼ cups of all-purpose flour
- ¼ tsp of salt
- ½ cup of softened unsalted butter
- ½ tsp of baking soda
- 1 egg
- ½ tsp of vanilla extract
- ¼ cup of sugar (granulated)
- ½ cup half sweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup of brown sugar (the firmly packed one)
- One medium sized-bowl
- One large-sized bowl/stand mixer: You can either get any one of these. If you are using a large bowl, you have to get a spatula to enable you to mix the ingredients manually.
- Hand mixer: This can also work well with your large-sized bowl
- Non-stick spray
The first thing you have to do is to preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. This helps the cookies to bake faster and spread evenly.
Next, you spray your pan so that your heart shape mold formulated cookies can get out of the mold easily.
Take a medium bowl, pour your flour, baking soda, and salt and mix thoroughly. Keep that aside.
Take a larger bowl or your stand mixer, and beat your butter and sugar until very fluffy and light. Then put in your egg and vanilla and continue mixing.
At this point, gently add in the flour mixture. Do not add it all at the same time as it may get very difficult to stir. Add it bit by bit, and stir accordingly. Add the chocolate chips as well.
When it has formed a dough, take some of the cookie dough and press it into your heart shape mold. Bake the cookies for about 10-12 minutes, or until you notice that the edges are golden brown.
When it is done, bring the cookies out to cool.
Voila! Your heart-shaped cookies are ready to be devoured! Bonus: Place the cookies on a decorative tray and cover with cellophane and a red ribbon for your friend, colleague, or loved one. Or, try making sugar cookies by leaving out the chocolate chips, and add fun frosting to spice up these Valentine’s Day heart shape mold cookies!
